After contact with the substance: corrosive burning of the eyes, skin and mucous membranes. On ingestion, irritation of the mucous membranes in the mouth, throat, gullet and gastrointestinal tract. Pains, vomiting, diarrhoea. After ingestion of large quantities: fall in blood pressure, circulation disorders, collapse. In the event of dust being produced, damage to: the airways. Inhalation may cause oedema in the lungs. LD50 (oral, rat): 350 mg/kg.
